Hello, my name is Katie Schouten, and I will be a sophomore at Purdue University. I
am majoring in Forestry, concentrating in Forest Management, and minoring in Wildlife. I
am excited to continue my education at Purdue in the fall. Being a natural resources major
is very important to me, and I am looking forward to seeing where I go next.

I grew up near Culver and spent many summers at the lake. Whether that was a
family day swimming in the lake or taking a walk, the lake was always stunning. The sunsets
on Lake Maxinkuckee have always been the most awe inspiring and some of the most
beautiful I have ever seen.

I was overjoyed at the opportunity to work with LMEF this summer. I look forward to
working with the volunteers of Culver Community and of LMEF. This summer I will be
working on mapping the storm water drainage system in Culver and several other small
projects around town. Additionally, I have the pleasure of working with the CYC Garden
Club this summer.
